Virginia joined the Union as the 10th state on June 25, 1788. It is often called the “Mother of Presidents” because it is the birthplace of eight U.S. presidents, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe. It played a central role in the American Revolution and the Civil War, with numerous historic sites, battlefields, and museums documenting these eras.
Patrick Henry became the first post-colonial Governor of Virginia on July 6, 1776.
Here is a chronological list of the governors of Virginia from First to last.
