List of North Carolina governors from first to last

North Carolina joined the Union on November 21, 1789. It was the 12th state to do so. But on May 20, 1861, North Carolina left the Union to join the Confederate States.

Richard Caswell became the first governor of North Carolina on December 19, 1776.
