List of Michigan governors from first to last

Michigan joined the Union on January 26, 1837, becoming the 26th state of the United States. This was during a period of significant expansion and development in the United States, with many states being admitted in the early to mid-19th century. Michigan’s admission to the Union followed a resolution of a boundary dispute with Ohio, known as the Toledo War, which ultimately led to Michigan gaining the western part of the Upper Peninsula as compensation for ceding the Toledo Strip to Ohio.

Stevens T. Mason became the first governor of Michigan on November 3, 1835.

Here is a chronological list of the governors of Michigan from first to last.
