List of Colorado governors from first to last

Colorado joined the Union on August 1, 1876. It became the 38th state admitted to the United States. This event is also why Colorado is nicknamed the “Centennial State,” as it gained statehood 100 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

John Long Routt became the first governor of Colorado on November 3, 1876.
